Skipping Painted Stones
An entertaining art blog based in rural Iowa and written by author and artist Haley McAndrews.
Alright, alright, you got me. I have absolutely been bitten by the LEGO set bug. Now, I don't just buy every single set I come across - that would be expensive, time-consuming, and I'd run out of space REAL QUICK. Trust me, we need all the wall space we have in our house for other art! So imagine my delight when I found some tiny off-brand plastic brick sets on Temu, of all places. Tiny art-themed sets. 😍 The first one I put together with my girls (they love helping me put sets together, but are less enthusiastic when Mom wants to take a photo after each step) was this little reproduction of "Map of Mount Fuji". I tried to find more information on the original piece, but there are countless artworks of and inspired by this beautiful mountain in Japan, and I wasn't able to find this particular one (the original art is on the right in the image above.) Not bad for less than $5! I have a few others waiting to be put together yet, but I'm trying not to burn through them all too quickly.
